WHAT IS BOIS BANDE?

Bois Bande “Bwa Bande”, loosely translated from French or creole means “Hard Wood”. This is a globally reputed natural aphrodisiac which can be found in some islands of the Caribbean. It is the bark of the tree, a large tree that grows in the rainforest and its bark is dried and used as bark pieces or ground into a powder. Bois Bande has been used for generations as a sexual enhancer, believed to prolong sexual prowess in both male and female.

SPICE CARIBBEAN Bois Bande is  the best of three top botanical species (Richeria Grandis). The other species are Parinari campestris and Roupala montana. Grenada’s Bois Bande comes from the mountains of its verdant rainforest and is free of pesticides or chemical interference. The product is sustainably harvested manually by farmers, no machines involved and no damage to the ecosystem.

DO I WANT BARK OR POWDER? 

• Both bark and ground (powder) have the same potency, they are just presented in different forms.
• The bark pieces are popularly used to soak in alcohol. The powder can also be soaked in alcohol but is more popularly drawn as a tea.
• The ground Bois Bande is not soluble so straining is necessary or recommended, else you can use tea bags.
• Bois Bande is also used in as a seasoning ingredient to marinate wildmeat. Additionally it can be combined with mauby bark to make a refreshing drink.

HOW DOES BOIS BANDE WORK?

• It is believed that Bois Bande “cleans” the blood vessels thereby promoting healthier blood flow, which in turn enhances the genitalia (male and female).

WHERE CAN I BUY BOIS BANDE?

• We recommend the Spice Caribbean brand exclusively from Grenada, available at  www.grenadamarket.com, also Amazon (USA). This is the Richeria grandis strain, reputed be the strongest known.  

HOW SHOULD I USE THIS PRODUCT?

• Bois Bande is usually drawn as a tea or infused in alcohol. The objective is to extract the active resin. 

DRAW AS A TEA:

• Boil about quarter ounce of bark per cup of water, you can adjust to your own strength and taste as you get used to the product. You can and milk and/or sugar, honey, Agave, Stevia etc to taste (optional).
• Bois Bande can also be paired with Mauby Bark to make a refreshing and stimulating beverage.

INFUSE ALCOHOL:

• Drop about 2 ounces powder or bark (increase for stronger brew) into a  750ml bottle of alcohol. A plain clear/white Bacardi, vodka or similar is recommended as it allows one to see the progress as the Bois Bande resin infuses the alcohol. We recommend Grenada’s Clarke’s Court,  Jamaica’s Wrey & Nephew or Bacardi white , but any scentless white rum is fine.
• The alcohol should change color from clear to tan and then deeper shades of brown depending on how much Bois Bande is added.
